  1. MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING
The minutes were misleading in respect of the proposed work on the White Hart. On the left side, the extensions will result in a soundproofed public bar and games room, possibly with a children's room at the rear. It is not yet decided what development will be made to the right hand saloon bar and upstairs. Music will be only in the public bar. There are no plans to demolish the facade. The car park may be replaced in parts. A brief will be drawn up under the guidance of a local architect. This will be made available to residents.

  2. VISITING MEMBERS' QUERIES
    None

  3. MATTERS ARISING
    1. Following the incident when a man was injured in North Parade, we asked whether the incident had been seen on CCTV and whether the system was effective. The response from the council was unclear. We will pursue the matter.
    2. The planning applications from Chessington World of Adventures were passed, despite an evident lack of detail, except for the Safari Walk which is still under consideration. We will write to local councillors saying that we are disappointed with the fact that local opinion was ignored.
    3. A working Party has been set up regarding traffic in Selwood Road/Vallis Road/Somerset Avenue.
    4. Francis attended part of a meeting at the Home Office. The Building Safer Communities initiative was not raised while he was there.

  4. COMMUNITY HEALTH COUNCIL
    No report.

  5. NORTH PARADE
    1. There are now four empty shop units. The fireplace shop is being redeveloped. The butcher's shop has closed.
    2. The former pet shop near the Indian Restaurant now sells motor parts.
    3. We will ask the Council to reconvene the working party.

  6. ANY OTHER BUSINESS
    1. New planning applications:-
      • 27 Orchard Road - proposal to demolish existing building and erect 9 new properties. We will object on grounds of overdevelopment/backland development, the alteration to the tone of the area and doubts as to the adequacy of the infrastructure.
      • Land opposite 1 Bailey Crescent - Erection of 2 semidetached 2 storey houses.
      • Junction of North Parade/Bridge Road - Installation of 15m high telecommunications mast on refuge on North Side of pedestrian crossing. We will object.

    4. Our request to councillors regarding consultation concerning the plans for the library is in hand.
