- MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING
The minutes of the last meeting were agreed.
- MATTERS ARISING
- Chris attended the meeting at the Guildhall at which the application for extended opening hours by the "Cap in Hand" was heard. We will press for the display of a written statement on opening hours. The application by the White Hart will be held on 31 August. There was a disturbance there on Saturday 30 July. The Blackamoor's has permitted opening until midnight with 30min drinking up.
- Of the two planning applications for the Colditz site, one was refused and the other withdrawn.
- It has been reported that attempts have been made to acquire the site of Fleetwood Fengate, we will monitor the situation.
- The situation regarding the travellers' site in Green Lane is on the Agenda for the next South of the Borough meeting. Enforcement action is being taken both at that site and at the site in Clayton Road adjacent the nursery.
- The Clayton Road nursery may no longer be functioning. This raises the issue regarding the planning consent for the building on that site.
- A burglary took place recently at Ashton Davies
- The appeal by Alton Towers against a conviction for statutory noise nuisance under the Environmental Protection Act was unsucessful. A criminal investigation into planning matters at Alton Towers is reported to be underway. Alex will report further.
- The Barwell Cafe has been converted into two shops. It appears that planning consent was not necessary.
- There is a proposal to close the Rehabilitation Centre at Tolworth Hospital and relocate the work to Kingston Hospital. We will write to the PCT, copied to Kingston Hospital with a copy to Cllr Don Jordan. We may be able to raise the issue at the Health Scrutiny Panel.
- The K20+ proposals will be on the agenda at the South of the Borough meeting. Proposals for consultation are being exhibited at the old Post Office. A separate proposal is being made regarding development of the Marks & Spencers site.
- At the meeting concerning the new library, concerns were expressed regarding: parking in Green End; the reduced size of the new hall; and the utilisation of the recording facility. The Neighbourhood and Housing Offices are to move into the new centre and the Citizens'Advice Bureau has also been offered space. Assurances have been given that the bookstock is not going to be reduced, despite the use of lower shelves. The cafe and creche will be subcontracted. There will be no radio masts or lights on the tower.

- A subscription to KATA for £12 is to be paid. The KATA AGM will be on Wednesday 5th October at 7:30PM at the United Reformed Church in Eden Street. Councillor Patricia Bamford and Rob Dixon are to speak.
- Mr Patel of Just Stationers, Hook Parade is selling travelcards and bus passes, but not Oyster Cards.
