- MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING
The minutes of the last meeting were agreed. The address of the planning application should read 6 Rythe Close. Sue Torrero should be added to the list of apologies.
- VISITING MEMBERS' QUERIES
A resident of Green Lane, Chessington, gave a report on the latest position regarding the gypsy site in the area. The planning application for the siting of caravans in Green Lane was refused and the appeal is to be held on Tuesday 21 April at Hotel Antoinette, Beaufort Road, Kingston at 10AM. It is felt likely that the gypsies will win the appeal. They are supported by a powerful countrywide lobby and the government has made changes to the rules regarding Green Belt. Local Green Belt is under pressure as a consequence of the demand for housing. A planning bill, if enacted, would remove the power of local authorities to veto planning applications on the grounds that they are in the Green Belt. Some residents of Green Lane have instructed counsel to represent them at the appeal and Ed Davey has also been informed of the situation. A large mobile home has been placed on the site. Jim will write to Ed Davey, asking him to ask a question of the appropriate Minister. He will also telephone the Council planning department to ask what actions have been taken.
